A historical note:

Driven aground by a storm on New Year's Day, 1965, the S.S. Catala— originally brought to Ocean Shores as a floating "Boatel"— rested on the beach at Damon Point, at the south end of Ocean Shores for years until it was finally ordered to be cut to pieces by the Washington State Department of Ecology.
